About

Bat-tammy-289x300

I always wanted to be a comic book hero(ine) when I grew up. Didn't happen. Instead, I became a consultant with the ability to blend the experience of several double identities into highly effective, customized client solutions. I’m the owner of StellarEngine, a consultancy specializing in community management.

I have over twelve years of experience providing management and marketing communications strategy to businesses and non-profit organizations. My strategic planning and program development experience includes tenures at two of Colorado’s leading non-profit agencies. Over the past three years, I’ve consulted with a wide range of companies and brands on marketing, social media and organizational strategy, including Nokia, Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, USA Cycling, and the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, among others.

I've contributed articles and essays on digital/pop culture to numerous print publications, magazines and blogs. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree with honors in English from Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, and pursued my Ph.D. in English at the University of California at Berkeley. Until recently, I was the community manager for At Length, an online journal dedicated to long works of poetry, prose, music, art, and photography. It’s a lovely read and worth your attention span.

In 2005, I co-founded the Denver Roller Dolls, a non-profit roller derby league that has trained hundreds of athletes, contributed thousands of hours of community service, and become one of the top-ranked leagues in the country. In 2006, I co-produced Talk Derby to Me, a documentary about the roller derby revival. I’m retired now, but I still use my skills to get on the L train during rush hours.

At the center of my work and service is a passion for solving problems, helping people, and contributing more good stuff to the universe. In that way, I still aspire to be like the comic book heroes and heroines I admired so much as a kid.

I live in Brooklyn with the curator of the Ehren Space Museum and a lot of gadgets.
